Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes national park and ascend Mt. Karisimbi
Be picked from any point in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital and start a short journey of about 3 hours to Volcanoes National Park. This park is known to host 5 of 8 Volcanic mountains located in the Virunga massif. This park is known to host the marvelous mountain gorillas and interesting history of Dian Fossey.
Arrive and straight away head to the park headquarters where briefing takes place. While here, you can hire some potters to help you carry extra luggage. Start the hike through the jungles and be lucky enough to spot different primates, vegetation and birds. You may also spot a family of mountain gorillas and continue to have an overnight stay in the mountain, near the summit.
Day 2: Summit view, descend and transfer back to Kigali.
Proceed with a hike in the morning after breakfast which will give you unmatched views of entire Virunga region. Encounter different scenic points, perfect for photography and thereafter, descend the mountain and sign out followed by a transfer to Kigali city.
