Detailed itinerary
Day1. Be picked up at the airport and transferred to Akagera National Park
Our well-trained driver guide will be eagerly waiting for you at the airport. As soon as you arrive, he will warmly welcome you and take you through a briefing about the safari and move to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Thereafter you will get into your vehicle and drive heading to Akagera national Park with several stopovers for different sightings. You will proceed with the journey to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as you prepare for the next experience.
Day2. Boat cruise safari and evening game drive
Wake up early morning and have your well-prepared breakfast and set off for the ride which is a boat ride commonly done on Lake Ihema. You have a high chance of spotting water animals like the hippos, crocodiles, and many water birds will also be recorded. For example, Kingfishers, papyrus gonolek, fish eagle, and many more stay around the lake. Retire to the lodge for lunch as you prepare for the evening game drive. In the afternoon the drive will be more enjoyable by spotting numerous wildlife such as elephants, zebras, topi, Lions and many more. After moving back to the lodge for dinner and a night's stay.
Day3. Morning game drive and depart to Nyungwe forest National Park
The game drive is always a leisure activity that doesn't make one get more tired and is full of fun and enjoyment. So you will wake up early morning, have breakfast and set off for the beautiful morning sightings including wildlife and sun rays as you proceed with the drive and check out. As soon as you start entering Nyungwe National Park you will have a stopover for your picnic lunch and continue with the journey to the booked hotel for dinner and a night's stay.
Day4. Chimpanzee trekking
Chimpanzee trekking is always done early morning and in the afternoon. Therefore, wake up early in the morning for the breakfast and move to the park offices of Nyungwe forest national park where you will meet the park ranger for briefing and grouping. Start the walk-in search of chimpanzees and if any group has trekked, only one hour is required to be spent while present with them. Watch and enjoy them grooming each other, climbing up in the trees and many more behaviours as you take photos and record videos. After moving back to the office and meet the driver guide as you retreat to the lodge for lunch and rest.
Day5. Canopy walk and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On this fifth day, wake up and have your breakfast early morning and set off for the journey heading to Uwinka visitor center. The site guide will welcome you as he/she takes you through a quick briefing and move for the experience in the Nyungwe forest. The adventurous become quite interesting as feel the fresh air, and watch different primates, and bird species since the canopy goes up to 50 meters above the forest. Retreat to the lodge for your picnic lunch and after set off for the journey to volcanoes national park.
Day6. Gorilla trekking
Arise early morning and have your breakfast as the driver guide will be waiting for you and head to the park headquarters of Volcanoes National Park. Be welcomed by the park ranger who will take you through a quick briefing and lead you to the field in search of these great primate apes. For further notice, you are given three hours of trekking that is; one in search for them, one in presence with them and one departing to the office as you meet them. Retreat to the lodge and have your lunch.
Day7. Depart to Kigali
Wake up early morning on this seventh day which will mark the end of your trip. Have your well- prepared breakfast accompanied with either a cup of coffee or tea depending on your choice and thereafter meet your driver guide for checking out as you head to Kigali. You can visit the craft shop if you still have time to buy some souvenirs to take home for remembrance. After being dropped at the airport and flying back home.
