Overview
Your 10 days Uganda wildlife and primate safari will begin from the day one you arrive in Uganda and you will visit national parks like Murchison falls national park which is the largest among the ten national Parks we are having in Uganda while in Murchison, you will take part in the boat cruise and game drive. You will also reach Queen Elizabeth National Park for a game drive in the Ishasha sector for tracking the rare tree climbing lions, you will also visit Kibale for chimpanzee trekking and Semliki for the hot springs. Your 10 days will end from Bwindi impenetrable national Park for gorilla trekking and then you will travel back to the airport for your flight back home.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kampala
When you arrive in Uganda at the airport in Entebbe, our company driver guide will welcome and take you through a short briefing about how you are going to spend your 10 days Uganda wildlife and primate safari and after that, he will drive you to the hotel where you will be picked tomorrow as you head to Murchison falls national park
Day 2: Drive to Murchison falls national park
Today, you will wake up in the morning have your breakfast and head for your 5-6 hours drive to the Northwestern part of Uganda where the biggest national Park sits which is Murchison. This park is not only the biggest but also it is where the most powerful waterfalls are found. You will have your stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to have a look at the rhinos who are always in the swamps to cool their bodies because of too much sunshine.
Later, you will drive to Masindi Town where you will have your lunch and after you will proceed with your journey to the lodge near Murchison falls national park for dinner and your night.
Day 3: Morning game and evening boat cruise
Be served with a heavy breakfast and then your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and drive you to where the game drive starts, while here, you will meet the Park ranger guide who will lead you to the park for the game drive. On your morning game drive which is more rewarding than the afternoon drive, you will have a look at animals like elephants, Uganda kobs, giraffes, waterbucks, Jackson's hartebeests, warthogs and several more.
You will also spot some big cats hunting in the morning like leopards and lions, birds like yellow fronted tinker bird, black-billed barbet, black-headed lapwing and many more. The game drive will end and you will move back to the lodge for lunch and in the evening you will head for a boat cruise.
On your boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, you will have a stunning view of hippos, crocodiles, elephants and many more animals, drinking water from the shores. You will spot some water birds and you will then move back to the lodge for dinner.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Wake up in the morning enjoy the Ugandan coffee and then start on your drive to Kibale National Park which is located in the southwestern part of Uganda mostly referred to as the primate capital of the world because of its homing of the 13 primates. You will have your en- route lunch from Fort portal and then embark on your journey as you look at ranges of Rwenzori Mountain at a distance, tea plantations and enjoy the breathtaking nature from the western region of Uganda. Check-in at the lodge.
Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and drive to Semliki National Park
Have your morning breakfast and then head for chimpanzee trekking in Kibale which starts from the Kanyanchu visitor centre with a briefing from the Park guide who will then lead you to the forest to search for these wonderful primates. Trekking in Kibale National Park lasts for about 4- 7hours and most of the time is spent searching for these primates because they keep moving to look for food.
When found, you will be given one hour in their presence as you will be watching them play, groom each other, feed and many more other behaviors. Return to the lodge after trekking for your lunch and after your lunch, you will drive to Semliki National Park a birders haven and a home for the hot springs. You will check in at the hotel either in Bundibugyo or in Ntoroko.
Day 6: Hot spring and nature walk
In the morning, you will have your breakfast and then head to the hot springs just after the Park headquarters and you will visit both the female which is called Nyansimbi meaning the female ancestors and the male which is called Bintente. Don't forget to buy some eggs to boil from the boiling pools of the hot springs, after the visit, you will move back to the lodge for lunch and after you will head for nature in the forest.
While on your nature walk, you will be able to add birds to your checklist since the Park has over 400 bird species with the Albertine rift endemic like the dwarf honey guide, purple-breasted sunbird and many more. Spot some primates, mammals then you will move back to the lodge for dinner.
Day 7: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park and boat cruise
Wake up at any time and have your breakfast and check out from the lodge head to Queen Elizabeth National Park famously known for homing the rare tree climbing lions and the highest concentration of hippos. Upon reaching the Park you will welcome by animals like elephants, warthogs and many more on the roadsides, check in at the lodge for lunch.
You will head for a boat cruise in the evening at Kazinga channel where you will have a view of the game calmly, look at the hippos, crocodiles, water birds like kingfishers, pelicans and visitors animals like antelopes, and elephants. Move back to the lodge for your night and dinner.
Day 8: Morning game drive and road trip to Bwindi impenetrable national Park
With breakfast in the morning, you will drive to the Ishasha sector where you will be able to track the rare tree-climbing lions and look at animals like antelopes that lions normally hunt for food after your tracking, your driver guide will then drive to Bwindi and with a stopover on your way for lunch.
Day 9: Gorilla trekking
It is this day that you will have a look at the mountain gorillas in their natural habitats and you will have your breakfast and then drive to the park headquarters where you will meet the Park ranger guide who will first tell you the guidelines followed while trekking and after he will lead you to the park to look for them.
It will take you almost the whole day as most of the time is spent searching for them but once found, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence and you will look at them play, breastfeed their young babies, and groom each other and as you take photos. Optional cultural tour to the Batwa community in the evening.
Day 10: Travel back
The last day of your 10 days Uganda primate and wildlife safari will begin in the morning and after you will check out from your lodge and your driver guide will drive you back to Kampala. You will have your stop over at the equator for some photos and your lunch then drop off at the airport for your flight.
