Overview
These 4 days double gorilla trekking in Uganda safari takes you to the two major national parks known for homing endangered mountain gorillas – the Bwindi impenetrable national Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. You will have a chance to look at these endangered mountain gorillas that are said to be closest relatives of man.
You will have also a chance of visiting the Batwa community for a Batwa cultural trail where you will be taught about the way how they used to stay in the forest where you will have a chance to look at the trails and be taught about how they used to gather medicine and food and after you will drive heading to Entebbe where you will fly to your home country.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at the airport and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national Park
Immediately upon arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by your driver guide together with our company representative who will brief you shortly about the safari and after you will officiate the journey heading to Bwindi impenetrable national Park, a journey taking 7-8 hours’ drive covering a distance of about 490 kilometers. Have a stopover in Mbarara city for lunch and after proceeding with the journey to your lodge arrive in the evening for your dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Be served with your morning breakfast at the lodge and drive to the park main offices where you will be issued a gorilla trekking permit that allows you to enter the park to trek after you will head to the starting point where you will find a ranger guide who will shortly pass you through a briefing about the activity. The briefing usually consists of the rules and regulations to follow while trekking and after you will start looking for these primates.
Trekking normally takes 1-8 hours depending on the location of these animals and when you reach them, you will be given an extra one hour in their presence for you to take photos and short videos. After the trekking is done, head to the park headquarters and be given your gorilla trekking certificate and drive to the lodge for lunch after which you will drive heading to Mgahinga National Park a journey taking 2-3 hours’ drive hence arriving at the lodge in the evening for your dinner
Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga forest and Batwa trail experience.
On this 3rd day of your Safari, you will be served your delicious morning breakfast at your lodge and then drive to the park headquarters where you will get a trekking permit and head to the trekking point for the briefing from the park officials. The briefing is always short consisting of the do's and don'ts to follow while trekking. Immediately after the briefing start looking for the gorillas an activity which usually takes 1-8 hours but depends on the movements of these animals.
Since these primates like moving high in mountains, our visitors are always emphasized to carry their trekking equipment and enough drinking water, snacks and many more needed for trekking. soon as you reach them you will be given an hour in their presence as you are taking photos and see them playing with their young ones, jumping from one tree to another after receiving your trekking certificate and drive back to your lodge for lunch.
In the evening you will drive to the Batwa community where you will be led by a Twa guide who will show you how they used to live in the forest where they used to gather food, medicine and their trails which they used while hunting and the tactics they used to hunt. Buy some crafts made by local Batwa which will add to your safari and after drive back to your lodge for your dinner
Day 4: Transfer to Kampala and fly back home
Begin your last day with your delicious breakfast at the lodge and then drive to Kampala with a stopover at Igongo cultural center where you will buy crafts and be served an interesting lunch.
Be dropped at any of the restaurants in the city or be driven directly to Entebbe airport and fly back to your home country.
